Coalition of Experienced Black Educators
The Coalition of Experienced Black Educators (COEBE) is an African American cohort of Independent educational consultants. As a coalition of experienced black educators, members of COEBE boast a combined service in public education, Pre K-12, as well as higher education of more than one hundred years.
Educators & Community
COEBE Board member Dr. Rennix addresses an audience regarding the effects of COVID-19 on youth learning. | COEBE hosted a forum with keynote speaker AIC President Dr. Benitez regarding parents as partners on the pathway to higher education. | COEBE is the presenter at the Cozy Pavilion to address the necessity for a collaboation between parents, students, teachers, and community can empower youth to succeed academically. |

The Springfield Empowerment Zone (SEZP) is a unique partnership between the State, school districts and the Teachers Union that allows schools to make decisions that impact their school and students through family empowerment and family engagement. SEZP has partnered with COEBE to create empowerment councils within each of the 16 schools that SEZP oversees. | The Springfield Education Association is the union for educators. It's goal is to ensure that students' learning environment is also educators' work environment and that conditions are condusive to students. The organization is working to become more community driven and engaging. | The Family & Community Engagement of the Springfield Public Schools (SPS) is another active partner of COEBE seeking to engage and keep families at the center of the work that they do. |
COMMITMENT
Cultural competency in the classroom: Individuals should
be able to relate to students with diverse backgrounds.
EDUCATION
Diversity: There should be more diversity. The current teacher population is predominantly White.
EXPERIENCE
There are disadvantages to being poor. The members of COEBE believe that the education of children is vital to the success of our democracy.
OUR FOCUS
Race relations: The disease of racism has contributed to the marginal under-representation and neglect of students.
